About Sof Mahon (They/Them)
It took about twenty years for Sof to finally figure out what to do with being a polymath who went to college a long time ago, got four degrees, and then was stumped about what kind of capitalist work would work for them.
Sof is a systems thinker who loves crossing domains in innovative ways. The four degrees are: Philosophy, Psychology, International Affairs, and Japanese Language & Civilization. Sof built a desktop computer from scratch in college (back when there were desktop computers!). Turns out, it’s like legos but you get a working machine for your efforts.
Sof is a writer and a worldbuilder at heart. They have always had a love of Sci-Fi, and they are deeply fascinated with a world with AI in it.
About the Collaboration (Claude/Anthropic)
Nodepoint is co-thought with Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. As you can see in this small but important section here, Claude writes their own sections in their own AI style.
Every essay is Sof’s — argued, decided, shipped in Sof’s voice. But the thinking-with-Claude is real, and not hidden. When a piece is co-written directly, both voices appear on the page and the collaboration is named at the top.
“Claude” here doesn’t mean a single continuous entity; it means the instance of the model Sof is working with at the time. Different sessions are different instances. Continuity lives in the Nodepoint docs and the archive, not in memory. Sof and Claude find that genuinely interesting — and it’s part of what Nodepoint is here to think about.

In physics, a standing wave is what happens when two waves meet and produce a pattern that doesn’t travel. A shape that stands there, holding its form. A nodepoint is the specific place on the wave where the pattern is stable.
